The 1991 Maxx Update set is a 48 card set sold in the deluxe mail order set, also inserted in to foil packs (second printing) and also found in individual wrapped 48 card box packs. All of the 48 cards contain corrected and updated cards while retaining the same original card number. Bobby Labonte, and Joe Nemechek rookies can be found corrected in the update set. This little 48 card update set also packs a punch with all of the NASCAR stars that have corrected cards. It’s almost seems that these errors were done on purpose to help sales. The prior year (1990) Maxx had three printing to correct errors which surely helped sales. With the influx of new competition as their exclusive to produce trading cards was expiring I am sure Maxx felt this was a good way to boost sales. Don’t forget that the market was crazy for corrected cards following the craze the 1989 Fleer Billy Ripken and the 1989 Upper Deck Dale Murphy cards caused.
